Get the Yellow Matter Custard DVD here

Intro music: “Anhelos” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  A lot of news in this episode!  We continue our vodka shootout with last week’s winner, Smirnoff, up against Seagrams.  In the end it was a tie, I chose Seagrams and Joe chose Smirnoff.  The next day I wanted to change my vote because the Seagrams gave me a real bad headache BUT we drank all the Smirnoff so Seagrams moves to Round 3 by default.  We mentioned some websites to check out (linked above) and we played a song from a psychobilly band called The Slapbacks and a Beatles super-cover-band called Yellow Matter Custard.

About Nothing Show – Episode 13

- Stupid drivers (rant)
- Ben Bernanke gets 2nd term as head of The Fed
Home Depot cuts 1,000 jobs
Man orders his kids to bite police officers
- Inflatable gorilla causes fire
- Featured alcohol: Vodka Shootout Round 1: Absolut vs. Smirnoff
– Featured music: Hawkins Hill

Intro music: Mystery #13 Music
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  Another action-packed show.  We don’t mind having guests drop in once in a while and share a thought, but what happens when our guests talk too much?  Unexplained microphone malfunctions, apparently.  We’ve dedicated the next few weeks to vodka, and this episode begins the competition with Round 1: Absolut vs. Smirnoff.  No real contest here…..  Also, great blues/rock provided by Ohio-based Hawkins Hill.  And finally, we uncovered David Lee Roth’s vocal track from “Runnin’ With The Devil” and madness ensues!

Oh yeah, there was a special code word somewhere in this episode…. something about $50 too….

Notes:  Definitely check out the crash test video and decide for yourself if it looks legit or rigged.  Fosters was a nice change of pace.

January Contest

I mentioned in Episode 11 that we are giving something away in January, and every month this year, and here it is: $50.00!  We would much rather send the winner a bottle of booze that we’ve featured on the show, but there’s some laws that say we can’t, so the next best thing is some cash for you to go buy your own bottle of Elijah Craig bourbon or Milagro tequila.

So here’s how to win: listen to Episode 13 of the About Nothing Show podcast for a hidden code word.  You’ll know it’s the secret code word because we’ll say “the secret code word is ……” got it?  Send an email to aboutnothingshow@gmail.com with that secret code word and your name and the country you live in.  We’ll pick a winner at random during Episode 15 and that person gets $50.00.  It’s that simple!

- New Year resolutions

- Shareholder sues Goldman Sachs over pay and bonus amounts
- Information about potentially dangerous chemicals hidden and protected by the US government

- Featured music: The Baboons and Chromium ZA

Intro music: “Anhelos” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  Welcome to 2010, or is that “oh ten”?  Either way, it’s a new year but the same old BS in the financial news.  Cracker and Kickass stop by and Cracker opens up and shares a feeling or two [sob] <g> -_-. We’re also back to a 1 hour show after doing some extended shows in December just for the hell of it.  After the onslaught of bourbon whiskey, we kick back this week with a free-for-all, so we did a mini review for Sauza tequila, Coors Light, and Newcastle Ale, but next week it’s back to the normal review.  Featured bands this week are The Baboons, a psychobilly band from Belgium and Chromium ZA, a modern metal band from South Africa.  Enjoy!

Free stuff

Yep, you read that right.  Even though it’s a tough economy and we are both riding the wave of financial misfortune like so many others, we’re giving stuff away.  Not second-hand or re-gifted stuff either!  We will be making an announcement during the next show (Episode 11) about a contest we are putting on and we’re giving away some cool prizes.  So listen to Episode 11 for all the details.

- AIG Vice Chairman resigns over pay limits set by the TARP agreement

- Financial news and rants, rants, and more rants!
- Featured alcohol: Maker’s Mark vs. Elijah Craig: We crown the winner of the bourbon whiskey face-off
- Featured music: The Nekromantix (from Denmark) and new Fear Factory

Intro music: “Anhelos” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  So long 2009, don’t let the door hit you on the way out!  We do a quick wrap-up of some of the topics we covered this year and cover a few new articles from the past week.  It’s open season on corporate criticism in this episode, and we don’t hold anything back.  We bring in Elijah Craig bourbon whiskey to go bottom’s up against Maker’s Mark and the winner is crowned as the Bourbon Whiskey Champion of 2009.  This was a fun show, and at just over 1 hour 20 minutes, it’s also the longest.  We’re looking forward to an awesome new year…. there’s always plenty of bullsh*t to talk about.

About Nothing Show – Episode 9

- Bank failures
- Ben Bernanke: Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year”
- Updates on our ghostly activities
- Inverted stars on the Republican Party (elephant) symbol: theories?
- Featured alcohol: Wild Turkey and Maker’s Mark whiskey face-off
- Featured music: Balzac from Japan and Shihad from New Zealand

Intro music: “Christmas in Hollis” by Run DMC
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Associated Media:
(linked above)

Notes:  Our official “Christmas Show”, with a few guests to join in the holiday festivities (i.e. drinking whiskey, b*tching about current events, etc).  Following up on Part 1 of our Whiskey Showdown, Episode 9 features Part 2: Wild Turkey vs. Maker’s Mark.  It wasn’t easy picking a winner this time around, listen in to find out who won.  Also, this episode includes two featured bands: Balzac, a band from Japan, and Shihad, a band from New Zealand.  The crazy thing is that neither one of us knew which bands we were picking for the show, yet we both picked bands from outside the US that have their roots in punk rock (Balzac = more old school punk and Shihad = more nu-punk).  Plus our usual ghost updates to round out the show.  Leave us some feedback on the changes we’ve been making…. and we hope you have a great holiday weekend.

About Nothing Show – Episode 8

- Shout-outs
- Goldman Sachs bonuses now to be paid in stock instead of cash
- Tiger Woods all over the place, but where’s the real news?
- Updates on our ghostly activities
- Woman slaps man in the head with a steak (this is real news)
- Billboard’s “Best of 2000’s” = suck-fest
- Featured alcohol: Jim Beam and Maker’s Mark whiskey face-off
- Featured music: “Psychopathy Red” by Slayer and “Ghost Town” by Gazoo Bill

Intro music: “Cortina 666 Heavy Radio” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Associated Media:
(linked above)

Notes:  Another great show!  December is the month of change I guess, since we changed a few things with this show too.  We spread the music out and featured a brand new song from Slayer and a psychobilly band from Finland.  Also, the alcohol review is for two whiskeys in a head-to-head, bottom’s up competition.  Lots of randomness and we even kicked up the sound effects throughout the show.  This was a fun show and at just over 1 hour, it’s our longest show so far.  So much entertainment for so little money….. spread the word!  Don’t forget to leave us some feedback.

About Nothing Show – Episode 7

- 30 days of Christmas music = rebellion with metal music
- Goldman Sachs [damage control]: gives out 10,000 free turkey dinners for Thanksgiving, plus another ridiculous round of bonuses
- World’s fattest countries, Too fat to graduate? and Being fat is against the law in Japan
- Caffeinated alcohol drinks soon to be banned in the US
- Featured alcohol: Simpler Times beer
- Featured music: old school metal:
Stormtroopers Of Death (SOD) – Kill The Assholes, Seasoning The Obese
Slayer – Behind The Crooked Cross
Megadeth – Tornado Of Souls

Intro music: “Anhelos” by Leechmaster
Outro music: “8-bit Junkie” by George Wood

Notes:  Slight change in the show format this time around.  Christmas music overload on the airwaves in Southern California, so we dug up some good metal music to help you forget about the “fa la la” and roasting chestnuts.  Interesting findings in the Top 10 Fattest Countries list.  We busted out some SOD, Slayer, and Megadeth…. and no we didn’t a pay f***ing penny to anyone to play those songs.  We both agree that Simpler Times beer, at 6.2% alcohol and $2.50 a six-pack, is an awesome deal and some good beer to boot.  Leave us some feedback!
